Cub Scout Pack 158 Newsletter

The first Pack Meeting for 2016-2017 will be September 21st at Floris Elementary School in the cafeteria.

Scout Summer Camp

Scout Camp

Congratulations to those scouts that completed Snyder or Goshen Scout Camp in July.  The scouts had a great time and completed many requirements for advancements, electives, and other awards.

Scouting for Food

A Cub Scout promises to "give good will".  Pack 158 participates in this national program of collecting food in our neighborhoods to help local food banks and have a direct, positive impact on our community.  Scouting for Food typically takes place the first two weeks of November.

Registration Updates

If you haven't already registered and paid dues this year, please contact your Den leader and complete this immediately as we need a complete list of scouts in the Pack to submit our charter information to Council.

Annual Bake Off

The December Pack Meeting will feature the annual Pack Bake Off.  Scouts should bake and decorate with as little help as possible.  All baked goods will be consumed at the end of the Pack Meeting.

Pinewood Derby News

The signature Cub Scout event, the Pinewood Derby is held in January, with winners advancing to District competition in February.  Car kits will be distributed in November via Den Leaders.  For all the new scouts, you (or maybe mom or dad) are probably looking at this block of wood and wondering “what to do I do with this?!” Fear not – there’s lots of information on the web but before you cut, make sure you check out the rules and regulations.  If your car does not “meet code” it will not be allowed to race.

Volunteers Needed

Our Pack needs you! As we embark on another fun-filled and action-packed year of Cub Scouting, we need parents to fill some of our volunteer positions. Please remember that all of the leaders in our pack are parent volunteers like you. So please pitch in, join the fun, and help make our program great for your son! We are in need of:  Committee Chair, Camping Chair (shadow this year to take over in 2017), Pinewood Derby volunteers, Gravity Grand Prix Chair (shadow this year to take over in 2017), other Gravity Grand Prix volunteers, Summer Activity Chair (identifies fun events that the boys can do giving them a chance to see each other over the summer), Training Chair (submits data and track Pack awards, arranges for purchase at the Scout Shop).  Please contact Ron Johnson at for more information.
